The other day I was at my friends house for dinner. After setting the table and preparing the meal, his mom had us sit around and we passed the bowls full of food and ate till we could not fit anymore. While all this was going on, we got talking about they're current residence and how it did not compare to the one that they owned back in England. Bonfires every weekend, decked with fireworks and amazing food. Mike, Cindy, Bob and their fifteen children, the neighbours, the neighbours' pets, everyone, all gathered in one place. We spent hours talking about their friends and where they met, whether at school or work, (a couple famous companions), all the details flowing in like new pieces of a mystery, putting the visuals in my mind together, trying my hardest to make a scene and animate these people, these souls. As I was thinking about all these crazy scenes, I stopped in my mind for a moment to think, why as humans, we do this.
Why we recollect, we remind, we remember...
Then I thought, that's what we're going to be doing in heaven forever. We will be forever reminiscing on what the Lord has allowed us to enjoy here in this mess of skin and bones, this ray in the spectrum of light, called life. We will look back and remember all that He has taken us through in this life and called us to ahead. Every thought, every decision, every action, every move, all for a reason, just a taste of eternity.
I love the way the book of John concludes,
"Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written." John 21:25
I think we will spend eternity talking about all those things that were never written, maybe only for those who were chosen, to hear. Things we have never dreamt of or could even come up with, all revealed to us on the other side of eternity. I'm excited for the Lord's return, are you?
In other news, school has begun, and with that comes the schedules, the itineraries, the sacrifices, the homework, the late nights and early mornings, the blood, sweat and tears, but mostly the higher frequency of output. For some reason, when it comes to me and schedules, the busier I get, the easier it is to get into the routine of outputting which will include more blog posts, more photo sessions, more clients, the beginning of the podcast, the continuation of videos, also the beginning of the weekly newsletter. Starting small but dreaming big. Hope everyone has had a great start to their week and until next time, godspeed.
